ABOUT DOUG MACLEAN

Doug MacLean is a veteran Canadian art dealer with over 40 years of experience specializing in historical Canadian art, mountain art, and contemporary works. Based in Canmore, Alberta, he operates as a private dealer and advisor to corporate, institutional, and private collectors.

His career has been defined by a constant survey of art markets across Canada, the U.S., and internationally,  with an eye on undervalued art and forgotten artists. This unique perspective forms the foundation of his advisory services today.

During the 1980s and 90s, Doug owned and operated the "Canadian Art Gallery" in Calgary, where he championed senior artists, folk artists, and works rarely seen in the region; including early Jack Bush, William Kurelek, and Indigenous historical art. He has served on the board of the Art Dealers Association of Canada for over 20 years and has formed deep relationships with galleries worldwide, attending auctions and building expertise that serves his discerning collector base.
