“My paintings flirt with the line between fine art and decoration, using both trending and vintage colours, patterns, and objects that evoke the quotidian, the nostalgic, and the ritual aspects of domestic space. In my practice, I navigate the erosion of memory within interior spaces and non geographical places, where familiarity dissolves into abstraction.

How does the home that was once a vessel of certainty become a site of fragile recall and fragmented narrative? I considered this very early in my practice and began by manipulating the domestic space using visual disruptions such as veils, blurring, abstraction, and perspectival manipulations. I manifested ideas of intrusion, belonging, secrecy, and self-protection. Many years later, these intentions have grown towards navigating solitude, loss and acceptance. Over the years, my practice has evolved to include singular aspects of domestic life, such as floral arrangements and vignettes of space and most recently, Canadiana informed landscape. I am interested in a sense of place that is not geographical but psychological and heavily ensconced in the emotional weight of place.

My practice is informed by growing up in the mountains of the Crowsnest Pass where the struggles of rebellion and youth formed my need to express. To Pass, to proceed and to grow is the epitome of my research based practice. For over twenty years, through cycles of struggle, research, failure, play and endurance, I have and continue to explore the ideals of Home.”
