Biography

Vanessa Croome is a graphic designer and artist who lives in Fernie BC. Painting is a natural progression from her day job as a graphic designer. It allows Vanessa to explore what can be created beyond the constraints of the computer and to discover another side of her creativity, one with endless possibilities. She is continually inspired by what surrounds her, whether deep in the woods on the trails of Fernie, or in urban centres surrounded by diversity in culture and art. Vanessa’s paintings are often a collaborative effort. While Vanessa paints, her partner Jay plays music, creating mix’s, or “soundtracks” for the paintings. The music that Jay plays often influences where the creative process goes, allowing the artist to step outside the process and focus on the feeling, the movement of the brush stroke and the exploration of abstract ideas.
