Barry Russell Lorne "A Portrait In Mauve"
20” x 16” Digital Print 2026
“I am an Emblematic painter and Pop Surrealist who uses symbols, icons, and vibrant colors to craft a unique visual language. My art employs reductionism in both imagery and technique, suggesting stories without fully resolving them. Recently my art has become more reductive and childlike with simple shapes, flat ballads of color and a limited palette. My new paintings are more about the simple pleasure of looking at art than trying to make art meaningful. For me art no longer must be anything beyond the art itself. What if the art was the art, without the need for external recognition, reference or subject matter beyond the painting itself. Can art be the art?”
