36” x 84” Oil and Cold Wax on Panel 2026
Purely Analog
“From a white field of emptiness, beginning with a random dance of texture, a painting slowly materializes choreographed by human senses. Stroke upon stroke, glaze upon glaze, adjusting, sanding, looking near and far, rubbing, changing, applying wax with oil, drawing, digging, rolling, scratching, sculpting, smiling, breathing. Plants rise to the surface and hide in the depths. Hands move, thoughts occur, intuition flows guided by a rhythmic force. Is it the same force that causes a tree to reach for the heavens, the clouds to shift, the river to flow and the mind to clear like water in a still pond. Rest a moment and contemplate a night garden of no particular place or era. Maybe it is reminiscent of old world botanicals or firmly rooted in memory and imaginings woven into poetry of nature and beauty. Is it a tapestry of metaphor? Does light radiate from within, an antidote for the darkness of night? Ineffable and mysterious, the painting waits as qualities of stillness and peace arise from the paint like mists over water.”
