Mark Holliday "Alaska A"

$2,795.00

12” x 30” Framed Encaustic and Lead on Paper, 2025

Exhibition: “Entropic Landscapes”

Mark Holliday is a Calgary based artist who works primarily in encaustic. The vital essence of his work owes its strength to simply asking the question: what can beeswax medium actually do? The final painting should set about supplying an unrepentant answer related to the encaustic wax process itself.

Marcia Harris, based in Calgary as well, is best known for landscapes. Her choice of subject is largely motivated by colour, light, and shadow. Through a distinct use of these elements and a painterly approach, Harris' expressive vitality provokes an alternative perception of familiar urban spaces

Their collaborative work for this show is based on the idea of entropy. The works deal with the concept of change over time whether it occurs in urban or natural landscapes.
