“Taking the meaning of “analog” in one way, the whole basis of my practice as a painter is the reinterpretation of experience and memory through non digital, analog means. My choice of both materials and technical narrative, focus my creative thought down to the hand made and organic. Using a mostly indirect approach to painting, I use layers of glazes and scumbles to compel the eye through the resulting image. In many ways it’s a product of my obsession with art history, one technical thought being built on what came before.
To approach the meaning of “analog” another way, my paintings seek to make an analogy of experience, clarifying memory into that which remains. Image arrives in relation to phenomena accumulated over time, reducing the extraneous and retaining the meaning.”
