Artist Statement
‘Roughly Speaking’ is a series of paintings that speaks to the notion of memory. The memories we accumulate throughout life tend to spread out over time all the while informing our opinions of the past. But memory is elusive. I like to think of these paintings in terms of multiple layers of memory lying one over top of the other in such a way that they resemble something that may not be completely accurate but yet entirely recognizable.
